Closing your account
Closing your account is immediate, permanent, and irreversible. The platform does not implement soft-deletions or retention grace periods for closed accounts. Once confirmed, your data is erased from active databases.
Before you delete
Section titled “Before you delete”Deletion handles your subscription for you, but the platform refuses to run it while anything would be lost that you did not settle yourself:
- A paid period is not refunded. If you only want to stop paying, cancel your subscription instead of deleting your account: cancelling keeps the account and your data, and drops you to Hobby at the end of the period you have already paid for.
- Nothing blocks it. Your account is yours alone, so closing it strands nobody: the people you added lose access to runs that are going anyway, and the accounts you were a member of keep everything.
A refusal destroys nothing: your confirmation code stays valid, and the deletion runs once you have settled what it named.
The deletion process
Section titled “The deletion process”To prevent accidental deletions, the platform requires a multi-step verification process:
- Open Organization (
/organization) from the menu at the foot of the sidebar, navigate to Settings (/organization/settings), and scroll to the Danger zone. - Request a confirmation code: The platform emails a unique 6-digit code to your registered address. It is single-use and valid for 15 minutes.
- Confirm deletion: Enter the code in the portal, select an optional reason for leaving, and confirm.
- Teardown: On confirmation, every API key is revoked, you are signed out, your subscription is cancelled, and your account data is deleted — normally during that same request. If a step cannot complete immediately, a background job finishes it within minutes. There is no point at which you can undo it.
Subscription cancellation & pro-rata refunds
Section titled “Subscription cancellation & pro-rata refunds”Deletion cancels any active Stripe subscription immediately as part of the teardown. The unused remainder of the current period is refunded to your payment card on a pro-rata basis, rounded down to the whole cent. If the refund itself fails, the deletion still completes: the failure is logged on our side and the money is still owed to you — contact us and we will settle it.
Data deletion cascade
Section titled “Data deletion cascade”The deletion process cascades across all services to remove:
- Identity records: Login profile, credentials, and email association.
- Tenancy container: Your account row, the members you added, and your memberships on other people’s accounts.
- Subscription state: Active plan row and Stripe subscription cancellation.
Retained records (Compliance exclusions)
Section titled “Retained records (Compliance exclusions)”Certain data is excluded from deletion to satisfy legal and accounting regulations:
- Stripe billing profiles: Historical invoices and payment logs inside Stripe.
- De-identified feedback: Anonymous exit survey feedback.
